About Programme

This department is committed to training dietitians who are guided by science in the preservation, development and sustainability of health. Our graduates will be able to combine applied education and academics with theory in order to maintain the standards required for a healthy lifestyle. Our graduating dietitians will promote, sustain and renew healthy eating habits based on scientific studies on an individual, social and global level; will be guided by professional ethical regulations; will have a firm belief in team work and will be a qualified healthcare professional embracing preventive and curative practices.

The goal of the department is to be a valued department of choice; to train graduates who are specialists in nutrition sciences and dietetics; to offer research and development; to be renowned on the national and international platforms for scientific studies and consultancies. Additionally, we aim to set benchmarks in the field of nutrition and dietetics through social research and publications as a part of preventive and curative healthcare services.

History
Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics has been accepting students since 2013, with its first graduates in 2017.
Qualification Awarded
After four years of education, graduates who successfully complete the theoretical, practical and internship applications receive the title of "Dietitian" with a bachelor's degree in the field of "Nutrition and Dietetics".
Organizing the plans and programs of individual and collective nutrition in line with the principles of nutrition science in order to protect and develop the health of all individuals throughout the life of dietitian, growth, development and increase the quality of life; researches, evaluates and finds solutions to health problems arising from nutrients, food and nutrition; medical and surgical treatments for congenital and acquired diseases and other special cases, which ensure the use of existing food resources in accordance with economic and health rules, control food, inform and raise awareness of the individual and society in order to adopt physiological, psychological and sociological healthy lifestyles on these issues. It is the field of health profession that plans, provides education, plans, implements and monitors diet programs according to the combination of appropriate, natural and therapeutic foods.
Admission Requirements
Nutrition and Dietetics Department admits students according to the type of points obtained from the higher education transition exam (YKS) conducted by Student Selection and Placement center (ÖSYM).
Higher Grade Transition
Graduates may apply to master's and/or doctoral programs in nutrition and Dietetics, Child Health, Nutrition and Internal Medicine, Public Health, Phytotherapy and Sports Sciences.
Graduation Requirements
In order for the student to graduate, he/she must have completed all the courses in the program and must not have FF, FG, NA and U grades. In the Nutrition and Dietetics Program, the student must provide a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. In the last year, students are required to do an internship for 4 days a week and for a total of 1200 hours in the fields of Nutrition and Dietetic Practices, medical nutrition therapy in adult and pediatric diseases, food services management, public health, sports nutrition and related fields and successfully complete the internships.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates can be recruited in, mother and Child Health Centers, dialysis centers, out-patient clinics, etc. all health units, polyclinics of various public and private institutions, food and beverage enterprises, hotels, nursing homes, elderly care centers, nurseries and food industry, and/or as academicians in Nutrition and Dietetics departments in universities.
Assessment and Grading
A variety of measurement and evaluation methods are used for the evaluation of the students, such as midterm, quiz, practice, internship, project, report, and final exam. For graduation, the cumulative grade point average is expected to be at least 2 out of 4. Courses are scored and letter graded as shown in the table.
