About Programme

The aim of Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program is to educate pathology technicians, who are able to apply methods and techniques required in the diagnosis of diseased cells and tissues, with high level of knowledge, skill and dynamism.

The program has a 2-year education period and the education language is Turkish.

In the program, practical trainings are carried out in Advanced Pathology Laboratory along with theoretical knowledge.

Program trains students in such a way that they can fully apply any pathology technique. Thus, students can easily adapt to the pathology laboratories at which they will work after graduation.

Program students gain pre-graduate professional experience with internships in the hospitals of Acıbadem Healthcare Group and other health institutions which are in cooperation with the university.

The students who graduate from the program assume the title of “Pathology Technician” and work as a team with pathology physicians.

History
The pathology laboratory techniques program started education and training with 24 students in the 2009-2010 academic year. In the 2014-2015 academic year, it started recruiting students to secondary education.
Qualification Awarded
Those who have completed their two - year education and graduated with an associate degree are awarded the title of Health Technician - Pathology technician.
Admission Requirements
Pathology Laboratory Techniques Programme; submits the students according to the result of the basic proficiency test (TYT-score) obtained from the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by (ÖSYM).
Higher Grade Transition
If those who successfully complete the program are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM; Emergency and Disaster Management, Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Genetics and Bioengineering, Nursing, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Health Management, undergraduate programs can transfer vertically.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate, the student must have accomplished all the courses in the program and not have the grades of FF, FG, NA and U. In pathology laboratory techniques program, students must complete 120 ECTS and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Our graduates can work in Pathology Laboratories of public and private hospitals, private pathology laboratories, histology laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine and Forensic Medicine Institution, and Molecular Pathology Laboratories.
Assessment and Grading
The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the “course instruction plan”prepared by the related lecturers and included in the information package. Related articles of Acıbadem University Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree Education and Examination Regulations are applied regarding exams and final grades of the related course
