About Programme
|
The aim of Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program is to raise health technicians who are able to make aesthetic and functional prostheses for people who have lost their upper or lower extremities for various reasons, and again to make supportive, aesthetic and functional orthotics to replace the functions for people who have lost their neck, trunk, arm and leg functions.
The program has a 2-year education period and the education language is Turkish.
In the program, practical trainings are carried out in Prosthetics-Orthotics Laboratory along with theoretical knowledge.
Program students gain pre-graduate professional experience with internships in the hospitals of Acıbadem Healthcare Group and other health institutions which are in cooperation with the university.

History
|
Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, Vocational School of Health Services, Orthotics and Prosthetics Programme has been admitting students since 2015-2016 academic year.

Qualification Awarded
|
Those who have completed their two - year education and graduated with an associate degree, receive the title of Health Technician-Orthotics and Prosthetics technician.

Admission Requirements
|
Our programme admits students according to the results of YKS and TYT that are conducted by OSYM.
|
Higher Grade Transition
|
Graduates, by taking vertical transfer exam (DGS) determined by OSYM, have a right to register for Orthotics and Prosthetics, Biomedical Engineering, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Programmes.

Graduation Requirements
|
In order to graduate, the student must have accomplished all the courses in the programme and not have the grades of FF, FG, NA and U. In the Programme, students must complete 120 ECTS and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and are required to complete 30 work-day internships successfully.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Graduates with the title of health technician are able to work in Polyclinic, prosthetic orthotic construction and application workshop, orthopedics clinic and plaster room of public and private in/out patient institutions and institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Health. According to the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS), they can be appointed as a health technician (medical prosthetics and Orthotics technician). They may also open their own “Special prosthetic orthotic production and Application Centers” and “Medical Device Sales Centers” or work there.
