About Programme

The scientific study of psychology contributes to society in a variety of ways and touches and enriches our lives at different levels. The knowledge on which psychology is based is important for modern society. There is always a need for psychologists whether it is to have a deep conceptual understanding of society; to increase productivity or employment security in a workplace; to evaluate and treat individuals who are suffering mental anguish; to research the effectiveness of subliminal messaging used in advertising; to increase the motivation and success of athletes or evaluate and rehabilitate individuals who are inclined to commit a crime; or to determine the cognitive function of individuals who have been injured in an accident.

The scientific study of psychology examines mental, emotional and behavioral processes. There are many sub-branches of psychology including developmental psychology, experimental psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, health psychology, cognitive psychology, forensic psychology, neuropsychology, sports psychology, and traffic psychology. An individual who has been educated in the science of psychology needs also to possess knowledge regarding the fundamental fields of psychology, research and statistical information prior to practice. Later, psychology students can complete a postgraduate degree following their four-year education which will enable them to specialize in a field in which they are interested and in which they believe they will be successful. Other students may desire to do field work, or continue their studies to become researchers or academics.

The Department of Psychology at Acıbadem University opened in the 2013-2014 academic year and has aimed to provide educational opportunities at the highest level to its students. With its strong conviction in ethical and scientific principles, academic staff who teach their specialist subjects as well as the physical structure, laboratories, library, and sports facilities offered to students in the heart of the city, combined with the academic opportunities provided by Acıbadem Hospitals, the department aims to set a benchmark for education.
